Product Details
Here we have a truly remarkable brooch dating back to the Victorian era. At the centre of this 15ct yellow gold piece, a flaming torch has been crafted with a snake wrapping itself around the main shaft. Both motifs showcases expert craftsmanship with exceptional attention to detail on show regarding the engraving. The coiled serpent's body here has been set with a single row of demantoid garnets; a feature particularly rare when its comes to jewellery of this period. These vivd green stones ascend the brooch whilst a tiny cabochon ruby portrays the eye and completes the piece.
The snake is a favourite among Victorian motifs. This brooch could have been inspired by Queen Victoria's wedding ring, as it was a snake with a green stone at its head– a highly romantic symbol of eternity.
